THE MISSION

The Universität St. Gallen (HSG) needed to overhaul its outdated online shop, which featured a complicated backend and led to inefficient workflows, particularly in accounting and administrative tasks.

The goal was not only to modernize the shop’s appearance but also to streamline backend processes, ensuring smooth, automated workflows while maintaining the institution’s well-established branding and putting its people—students, alumni, and staff—at the center of the experience.

THE OUTCOME

Our team reimagined hsgshop.ch by migrating it to Shopify, transforming both the user-facing interface and the backend operations.

The custom design embraced HSG’s signature green and “impact space,” preserving its established identity while incorporating modern, user-friendly eCommerce features. We focused on creating a seamless experience for the HSG community, with intuitive navigation and appealing design elements.

On the backend, we implemented Shopify’s robust tools to streamline workflows, integrating the platform with HSG’s accounting systems to automate processes, reduce manual tasks, and improve overall efficiency.

THE MISSION

The new Shopify store not only delivers a refreshed, modern design aligned with HSG’s established identity but also enhances the overall shopping experience for students, alumni, and staff.

By automating processes and simplifying backend management, the university staff saved valuable time and resources. Additionally, Shopify POS integration and custom app development further streamlined both the online and physical retail operations, fostering a stronger sense of community and making it easier for everyone to engage with the university through merchandise. The result is a platform that balances tradition with modern efficiency, providing a dynamic, inclusive, and accessible shopping experience for all.

The HSG Shop’s design incorporates the university’s signature green and iconic “impact space” design element, representing its established and well-recognized branding.

These elements were carefully integrated to reflect the tradition and values that have shaped HSG, ensuring the shop feels familiar and authentic to its diverse community.
